WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Man Of The House stars Chevy Chase as Jack, a beleaguered federal prosecutor in hot pursuit of his dream woman, Farrah Fawcett. But Jack is unprepared for stepfatherhood. Her resourceful eleven-year-old son Ben, played by Jonathan Taylor Thomas of TV’s Home Improvement, doesn’t like Jack “the geek” and wants to keep mom all to himself. Ben thinks it would be a good idea if he and Jack joined the YMCA Indian Guides and participate in Native American-inspired rituals and games to better their relationship. The fathers and sons group is led by George Wendt from TV’s Cheers. Wackiness ensues as Jack struggles to prove to Ben that he’s not totally uncool. From rain dancing to building a tepee, Jack will do anything to win Ben’s approval—and his mom’s affection.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.78:1 picture is sharp and detailed and exhibits good shadow detail and deep, solid blacks. Fleshtones are natural and colors are vivid. There is some minor noise and artifacts but nothing distracting.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is conventional monaural with a well recorded subtle surround music presence.
