WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Director Peter Bogdanovich has produced a delightful comedy in Paper Moon which is based on the novel Addie Pray by Joe David Brown. Ryan O’Neal plays Moses Pray, a smooth-talking con man in 1930’s Kansas who sells Bibles to widows. Selling house-to-house with him is Addie, the orphaned daughter of his girlfriend. Addie’s stint with Moses is supposed to end at her aunt’s house in Missouri but Addie has other plans because she thinks Moses is her father. Paper Moon was nominated for four Academy Awards® in 1973. Addie, played by an eight-year-old Tatum O'Neal, Ryan’s real life daughter, won an Oscar® for her incredible performance.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is matted at about 1.61:1 and exhibits crisp black and white images that are sharp and detailed. Contrast is excellent as is gray scale imagery with deep, solid blacks and good shadow detail, without distracting noise, grain and artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is highly compressed and distorted undistinguished mono.
