WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Jerky Boys: The Movie is a comedy which stars the platinum-selling recording artists, The Jerky Boys. The movie is a take-off on the “candid call” kings Johnny Brennan and Kamal and their zany hang-up phone humor. Johnny and Kamal are two self-described “low-lifes from Queens” who like to make outrageous prank phone calls. In the film, one of their calls reaches an angry mob boss (Alan Arkin) and really makes him angry. He sends his thugs out to disconnect the Jerky Boys for good. Outlandish comic antics follow as our heroes try to stay one step ahead of the law and out of the clutches of the mob. This is one irreverent comedy that is wildly imaginative.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.85:1 picture exhibits poor color fidelity with inaccurate fleshtones that are rendered with an orange hue. The pressing is problematic with poor quality overall, noise and excessive dropouts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a great music score with deep bass extension. Natural dialogue with real room tone and some effective sound effects add subtle surround envelopment.
