WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
After promising never to play the character again after his supposed farewell performance in 1971’s You Only Live Twice, Sean Connery reprises the role that made him and James Bond household names in this 1983 entry in the long running 007 franchise. Essentially a remake of the earlier Bond film Thunderball, Never Say Never Again pits the super agent against the criminal organization SPECTRE. Having been sent to a European health spa to regain his form Bond stumbles upon a plot to steal nuclear weapons from the U.S. and must lead an effort to recover them when the plan succeeds. Full of the expected stunts, gadgets and action and featuring incredible underwater footage, this is Bond at his best.
