WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Phantasm combines horror and science fiction in a film that definitely features style over content. The almost non-existent story line which takes place on the grounds of a funeral home is a confusing mess that makes little sense, but the talent of the director overcomes the weak plot. Tension is almost constant and surprises leap out at the viewer. If fright gives you a rush, watch this film in the dark—but not alone, it will scare the living daylights out of you!

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 matted picture is sharp and detailed with natural fleshtones and almost no artifacts for a picture that is sure to please.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
For those purists who would rather not hear the new stereo surround music mixes with deep organ bass and enhanced directional effects for an effective aggressive surround experience, there is a mono soundtrack on analog track two.
