WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Pulp Fiction is Quentin Tarantino’s hyper-violent masterpiece that weaves three separate narratives together as characters destinies cross in a seedy underworld. Combining the tales of two hitmen (John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson), their boss (Ving Rhames), his wife (Uma Thurman), a boxer (Bruce Willis) and two robbers (Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer), violence begets violence in a way unlike anything you have ever seen or experienced.

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® picture has an aspect ratio of 2.32:1. Colors are vivid with natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. The picture is sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail and virtually no noise or artifacts, imparting a superb visual experience.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Surround soundtrack’s core is the wonderful pop music score. One of the highlights is the twist scene at “Jackrabbit Slims” in which Thurman and Travolta get on the dance floor. The scene works so well that you disregard the reality that the soundtrack is really quite mediocre, being essentially a mono mix punctuated with the occasional ambient effect and subtle surround envelopment.
