WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
A Pyromaniac’s Love Story is a satirical romantic comedy bordering the ridiculous when four desperate individuals send an endless array of mixed-up romantic signals to one another causing a riot of confusion until at last they come to grips with their real desires. William Baldwin stars as Garet, who is foolishly trying to win the affection of his sweetheart (Erika Eleniak) by committing a series of fire crimes. Unfortunately for him, she’s got the hots for Sergio (John Leguizamo), who, unfortunately for her, has the hots for a garish waitress named Hattie (Sadie Frost). In an effort to impress Hattie, Sergio accepts an offer of $20,000 to take the blame for a suspicious fire away from the real pyromaniac, Garet.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture is problematic with inconsistent fleshtones, consistently orange or reddish tinted skin hues, poor color fidelity, noise throughout and excessive dropouts, particularly on Side 2 (perhaps a bad disc).

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is conventional movie stereo with a well recorded music score for en-velopment and an occasional sound effect for an aggressive surround presence.
