WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the book by Michael Palmer, Extreme Measures is a gripping medical thriller about Dr. Guy Luthan (Hugh Grant), a physician who was the attending physician the night a homeless man wearing a mysterious hospital band dies in his trauma room. Professional concern soon deepens into disbelief as Luthan’s investigation unearth’s the shocking details of a private medical research program that centers around one of the country’s most revered medical figures (Gene Hackman).

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® 2.35:1 picture exhibits a warm color spectrum with excellent fidelity and deep solid blacks. Images exhibit some slight overenhancement, but are sharp and detailed with excellent shadow delineation. The slightest noise is apparent with occasional artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is excellent with an expansive music score that images deep and wide. Dialogue is natural sounding and is spatially well integrated. Bass extension is deep and powerfully punctuates the suspense. Sound effects are produced in stereo with both subtle and aggressive surround envelopment.
