WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
From the moment advertising executive Dennis Bagley’s (Richard E. Grant) powerful speech begins in Bruce Robinson’s How To Get Ahead In Advertising, this biting satire comically propels you into the world of his manipulative profession. With a deadline coming up on Monday, Bagley must create a brilliant name and advertisement for a pimple cream. This crisis puts him under such stress that a huge boil breaks out on his neck and, before long, has literally acquired eyes, ears and a fiendish voice. The original theatrical trailer is included with the presentation.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, is an overall inconsistent presentation in picture quality. Color fidelity is sometimes oversaturated, sometimes fully saturated, with generally natural fleshtones and blacks. Images look soft and hazy, while at other times sharp and detailed. Shadow detail is generally good as well as contrast with slight noise and artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has an expansive, though slightly veiled stereo presence. The music score is nicely recorded with a deep soundstage presence. Dialogue sounds natural throughout and spatially integrated.
