WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Maximum Risk stars Jean Claude Van Damme as Alain Moreau, a French soldier who never knew he had a twin brother until he found him lying dead on the streets of his hometown. In an investigation to learn who Mikhail was, Alain becomes his brother and follows the tracks into a shadowy underworld.

LaserDisc Picture:
The framed 2.35:1 picture presents a slightly dark veil over a natural color fidelity with accurate fleshtones and deep solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with mediocre shadow detail and contrast. Slight noise is apparent but there are no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is very expansive with aggressive surround envelopment that effectively delineates each scene’s spatial character. Ambiant effects are always present, produced in stereo. Dialogue is natural with excellent spatial integration. The electronic music score is hauntingly atmospheric and well recorded with subtle surround. Bass extension is deep and powerful sometimes reaching below 25Hz.
