WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Michael is a heavenly story starring John Travolta as Michael, an unconventional angel who catches the attentions of three reporters from the National Mirror tabloid. Quinlan (William Hurt), Dorothy (Andie MacDowell), Huey (Robert Pastorelli) and Sparky, the Jack Russell terrier, spend a joyous week on the road with Michael, getting an exclusive for a front page article. But their subject has a far more wonderful and life-affirming plan in mind.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.92:1 picture exhibits good color fidelity with warm colors, natural fleshtones and deep blacks. Images are sharp with good shadow detail, slight noise and minor artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is nicely produced, although the Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete and PCM matrix sound different in character. Fidelity is richer, more natural on the PCM version, while the soundstage widens with spatial integration in the discrete. Dialogue is generally good, although ADR-produced on both soundtracks. The music score is well recorded with subtly enveloping surrounds.
