WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on a true story, Harrelson stars as sex industry entrepreneur Larry Flynt, who leveraged a small string of Ohio strip clubs into the beginnings of a publishing empire. His first Hustler issue was a financial disaster, but the subsequent issue, featuring Jacqueline Onassis sunbathing nude, brought him success. Settling into a 24-room mansion with his ex-stripper wife Althea (Love), Flynt was on top of the world—until anti-porn crusaders effectively shut him out of the American mainstream. Forced against the rising tide of censorship, Larry begins an arduous fight for freedom of speech.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.38:1, exhibits excellent color fidelity with vibrant colors, deep blacks and natural fleshtones. Contrast and shadow detail is excellent with virtually no noise.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is nicely produced with excellent dialogue integration and a richly dynamic music score that is expansive with good soundstage imaging. Surround envelopment is often aggressive and bass response is sometimes deep and powerful. This is one enjoyable soundtrack.
