WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Rapture is the controversial and sensual thriller that touches a subject that no other filmmakers have dared to tread. When Sharon (Mimi Rogers) begins to crave something more gratifying than her evenings swinging group sex, she believes she finds the answer in God. As she preaches to those around her—including her husband (David Duchovny) and daughter (Kimberly Cullum) —about the second coming of Christ, she is faced with a powerful and painful test of faith.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture exhibits excellent color fidelity and fleshtones. Images are sharp and detailed, but some noise and artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a forward dialogue presence often sounding ADR-produced with sometimes poor spatial integration. Ambiant effects are often in stereo with mostly subtle surround. Aggressive surround is dramatically effective and fortified with pounding bass that reaches below 25Hz. The music score is nicely recorded with an expansive soundstage and subtle surround.
