WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
Carrey is “the nicest guy” Stanley Ipkiss, a mild-mannered bank clerk who discovers a magical mask that turns his innermost desires into a live S-s-s-s-smokin’ toon action in this “wonderfully wacky” assault on the nonsenses. Ipkiss uses his new found eccentricity to capture the heart of the woman of his dreams, the stunning Miss Tina Carlyle (Diaz). The lunacy and visual storytelling is an eye-popping cavalcade of fun!
LaserDisc Picture:
As usual, the picture quality of this 1.85:1 transfer is exemplary in all aspects with its vivid colors sharp and detailed images.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The DTS® Digital Surround soundtrack dramatically enhances resolution and low level detail with improved spatial delineation and a more dimensional split surround presence to heighten the soundfield experience. Everything sounds more defined! The fidelity is warmer sounding for a more natural sound character. During the club scenes, DTS “puts” you there with aggressive surround envelopment that doesn’t quite have as much aliveness in Dolby® Digital.
