WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Armed with his licence to kill, Bond (Brosnan) races to Russia in search of the stolen access codes for “GoldenEye,” an awesome space weapon that can fire a devastating electromagnetic pulse toward Earth. As Bond squares off against his evil former compatriot, Alex Trevelyn, aka Agent 006 (Bean), he also battles Trevelyan’s stunning ally, Xenia Onatopp (Janssen), who crushes victims with pleasure between her ultra-toned thighs. Trivia note: GoldenEye was the name of Ian Fleming’s Jamaican home.

DVD To LaserDisc Comparison:
The Panavision® Scope picture is framed at 2.35:1 and the THX® transfer exhibits stunning picture quality in every visual aspect. The Dolby® Digital soundtrack, reviewed in Issue 20, with its extremely boomy bass energy, was described as a 007 Thrill Ride! DTS® Digital Surround improved the ride with a more open soundfield presence with better low level resolution. The DTS soundtrack is more natural, projecting slightly better detail with excellent ambiance delineation and the use of discrete surrounds.
