WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Eddie Murphy stars as Scott Roper, a wisecracking hostage negotiator who comes face-to-face with a psychotic killer in Metro. When his partner is killed in what seemed to be a simple theft investigation, Roper is reluctantly teamed up with a rookie sharpshooter (Michael Rapaport). But Roper soon learns his new partner is an asset when the relentless Korda (Michael Wincott) leads him in a personal game of cat-and-mouse. Filled with non-stop action, fabulous chase scenes and Murphy’s rapid-fire humor, Metro is one sure-to-please action extravaganza.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 2.32:1 picture exhibits superb quality that is sharp and detailed with excellent color fidelity. There is no apparent noise or artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital discrete 5.1 soundtrack sometimes sounds dramatically spacious with effective split surrounds compared to the slightly centered matrix PCM version. Dialogue sounds virtually identical on both versions and often exhibits an unnatural ADR-produced quality. The music is dynamic with superb bass extension, often reaching below 25Hz. Surround is often effectively aggressive and enhances soundfield envelopment.
