WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Shadow Conspiracy is an action thriller about one man who can untangle a conspiracy that threatens the safety of the United States. Bobby Bishop (Charlie Sheen) is a presidential advisor who suddenly becomes the prey of a ruthless (and we mean ruthless in every sense of the word!) professional killer (Stephen Lang) determined to carry out a covert mission. He runs for his life, trusting no one but his mentor, Chief Of Staff Jake Conrad (Donald Sutherland) and his former girlfriend Amanda Givens (Linda Hamilton). In less than twelve hours, while racing through the streets of Washington, D.C, he must unravel a plot that threatens the safety of himself, Amanda, the president (Sam Waterston)... and the entire country. This is a dizzyingly fast political thriller that is surprisingly entertaining and sure to please action fans.

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® Scope aspect ratio is framed at 2.32:1. Images are extremely sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail. Color fidelity is exemplary with rich and warm fully saturated colors, natural fleshtones and deep solid blacks. In some scenes, fleshtones look slightly brown and oversaturaed, but does not distract from the overall excellent quality. Only the slightest noise is apparent, but there are no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The discrete 5.1 Dolby® Digital and Dolby Surround matrix PCM soundtracks are well produced. Differences are heard in the slightly widened frontal soundstage and occasional split surround effects delivered by the discrete version. The harmonic character in the Dolby Digital version is close, but better resolved in the PCM version, with generally good spatial integration. Bass response is deep and powerfully effective throughout, reaching below 25Hz and adding weight to the suspense. Dialogue is generally natural throughout with good spatial integration. Both soundtracks are sure to please overall.
