WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Hard Target is Hong Kong action director John Woo’s rousing American film debut about the thrill of the hunt—in this case, the stalking of homeless combat veterans recruited for stalk and kill “amusement” by a sadistic mercenary (Lance Henriksen). International superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme comes to the aid of a woman in search of her missing father.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits extremely sharp images and excellent color fidelity. With no noise or artifacts, this is a stunning picture. This appears to be the same transfer as originally reviewed in Issue 8.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The DTS® Digital Surround soundtrack is dramatically more spatial and discrete sounding than the previous matrix PCM version. Split surrounds are aggressively presented with a constant ambiance that heightens the soundfield experience.
