WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
In a double feature with Die, Monster Die! With all your favorite creeps together in one film, The Comedy Of Terrors is an absurd slapstick spoof about the drunken undertaker Trumbull (Vincent Price) and his inherited funeral parlor—that happens to be going under. Trumbull becomes increasingly stressed about losing the parlor and his failing marriage to a tone-deaf opera singer (Joyce Jameson) isn’t helping matters. With the help of his assistant (Peter Lorre), Trumbull devises a murderous plan to bring in new “customers” and pay back his Shakespeare-spouting landlord, John F. Black, Esquire (Basil Rathbone). Although not a success at its theatrical release, The Comedy Of Terrors has gained cult following and is deadly fun with its sight gags and sarcasm!

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® Scope 2.32:1 picture exhibits weak, grainy blacks and color fidelity that looks faded with time. Images are inconsistent, generally wanting in sharpness and detail. Slight noise and artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural with background noise.
