WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Devil’s Own is a riveting suspense thriller about Fankie McGuire (Brad Pitt), aka Rory Devaney, a deadly Irish assassin who, on a mission to buy weapons, is invited into the home of NYPD cop Tom O’Meara (Harrison Ford). The two men form a father-son-like bond while the realities of their lives lie in wait under the surface. When violence is unforgivingly visited on his home and family, Tom learns the unsettling truth about Rory.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.38:1, exhibits superb quality with natural color fidelity throughout. Images are generally sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail. Only minor noise and artifacts are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is natural sounding with excellent spatial integration. The music score is slightly veiled in fidelity and a bit focused toward the center. Other times the music score presents a wide and deep soundstage. Bass response is deep and natural sounding. Surround is both subtle and aggressive at times with a wonderful enveloping soundfield that is effectively dimensional
