WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Eight On The Lam is a wacky comedy starring Bob Hope as Henry Dimsdale, a penny-pinching, Volkswagen-driving father of seven children (including two of Hope’s own) who slips on a banana peel and discovers $10,000 in a parking lot. Torn between using the money to support his family and setting a good example as a father, Dimsdale becomes the big spender he never dreamed he could be. But when $50,000 disappears from the bank Dimsdale is working at, he is accused of embezzling the money and sets out to clear his name at the advice of his eccentric babysitter, Golda (Phyllis Diller). With the bank president and a bumbling police detective (Jonathan Winters) in hot pursuit, Golda uses her outlandish antics to foul up the chase as the Dimsdale bunch goes on the lam.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.66:1 picture is slightly washed out, overly bright and dated looking. Images are generally sharp and detailed, but shadow detail is weak. Noise and artifacts are apparent throughout

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural that sounds shrill and distorted.
