WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the play by Ann Jellicoe, The Knack ...And How To Get It is a sharp witted, fast-moving comedy about a man who is popular with the ladies and his buddy who wants to learn the secret. Desperate to become more like his motorcycle-riding, womanizing friend Tollen (Ray Brooks), the pathetically desperate and clumsy Colin (Michael Crawford)—joined by Tom (Donal Donnelly), his new roommate and Nancy (Rita Tushingham), a young woman looking for the YWCA—takes a hilarious trip through the streets of London on a large wrought iron bed. Winner of the Best Picture at the Cannes Film Festival in 1965, The Knack ...And How To Get It is an off-beat, wonderfully nonsensical caper that is sure to leave you laughing. Star Michael Crawford later found a knack of his own in the title role of Phantom Of The Opera. The original theatrical trailer is included with the feature.
