WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
(Cantonese) Man Wanted is the gritty action thriller starring Simon Yam as Lok Man Hwa, an undercover police inspector assigned to bust the druglord Feng (Yu Rong Guang) and his cartel of traffickers. After an intense sting operation, leaving Feng presumably dead, Lok tries to pick up the pieces and resume his life on the force. But when Feng suddenly reappears, Lok once again puts his life on the line to put a stop to this hardened criminal in an explosive bloodbath at Hong Kong’s seedy Mongkok district. Analog tracks are English dubbed. Theatrical trailers are included.

LaserDisc Picture:
Composition-wise, the 1.75:1 picture is butchered with heads cut off the top of the “letterbox” on both full screen and widescreen monitors. The picture exhibits bright and poorly saturated colors that are yellow and green with unnatural fleshtones. Images are wanting in sharpness and detail with poor undefined shadow detail and non-existent contrast. Noise and artifacts are apparent throughout. The second line of subtitles cannot be read on widescreen monitors.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural that is distorted throughout.
