WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Inspired by Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist,” Oliver And Company is Disney’s 27th full-length animated masterpiece that tells the story of a little orange kitten named Oliver (Joey Lawrence), orphaned in the endless concrete canyons of New York. When a street-smart mutt named Dodger (Billy Joel), and his rag-tag pack of pals—Frankie, Einstein, Rita and Tito—take young Oliver under their paws, the little kitty learns his new friends need help. But when he is adopted by a lonely little rich girl named Jenny (Natalie Gregory), Oliver and his new friends must race to save her from an evil mastermind—and his two daunting Dobermans—who are after her money.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.62:1 exhibits exemplary animation that is sharp and detailed with excellent color fidelity and deep, solid blacks. There is no noise or artifacts for a solid visual presentation.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is nicely produced with directional effects and a beautifully recorded music score that images wide and deep across the soundstage. Surround envelopment both subtle and aggressive, but deep bass is wanting throughout.
