WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Free Willy 3: The Rescue stars Jason James Richter reprising his role as Jesse, who is now tracking whales—and his old pal Willy the Orca—in the remote waters of the Pacific Northwest with his mentor Randolph (August Schellenberg). But, aboard an underground whaling expedition, on a trip with his fisherman father, is young Max (Vincent Berry), whose curiosity and affection for the whales inspires him to join forces with Jesse to ensure the Orcas’ safety. This is a case in which the sequel is better than its predecessor(s).

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.90:1 picture exhibits natural color fidelity in all aspects. Fleshtones look accurate, colors are rich with deep, pure blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail and contrast. The close-up shots of the Orcas have incredible sharpness and beauty. The picture is solid with only the slightest detected noise and artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete and matrix soundtracks are nicely produced with a wonderful music score that images wide and deep. The discrete distinguishes itself with occasional split surround effects.
