WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Reptile is the chilling tale about the victim of a terrible curse. When Harry Spalding (Ray Barrett) moves with his wife (Jennifer Daniel) to the cottage beqeathed to him by his late brother, they encounter a terrified and hostile village. A horrible string of events reveals the truth behind the elusive Dr. Franklyn (Noel Willman) and a cult of snake worshippers whose vengeance transformed his daughter, Anna (Jacqueline Pearce), into part woman, part reptile. If the sets of The Reptile look familiar to you, it is interesting to know that the film was created back-to-back with The Plague Of The Zombies, utilizing production designer, Bernard Robinson’s existing sets.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits inconsistencies in color fidelity. Colors are dull and lacking vitality with weak blacks and fleshtones that are often orangish. Images often look plugged up, but are generally sharp and detailed in lighted scenes. Shadow detail is poor, undefined and is marred with grain throughout. Noise and artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is undistinguished and distorted monaural.
