WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The 6th Man is an irresistable comedy about two basketball-loving brothers Antoine (Kadeem Hardison) and Kenny (Marlon Wayans) Tyler. Kenny’s dreams of winning an NCAA Chamionship dies when Antoine’s life is unexpectedly taken. But his dream comes true—when Antoine returns—as a ghost—to play hoops with his brother. The sixth man’s funky dunks, wacky steals and hysterical assists help the team take another shot at winning the game. Bonus material includes audio commentary by director Randall Miller and executive producer Jody Savin and before-and-after special effects sequences.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture exchibits excellent color fidelity with rich and warm colors, natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. Images are extremely sharp and delineated all the way to minute details in the picture with exemplary shadow detail and contrast.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital discrete soundtrack renders a wider soundstage presence and more image presence in the music score when compared to the PCM matrix version. Bass extension is also deeper and more powerful. Dialogue is generally natural and at times has excellent spatial integration. Surrounds are discrete with subtle directionality.
