WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
In That Old Feeling, Bette Midler stars as Lilly Leonard, a temperamental movie diva who must make nice with her ex-husband Dan DeMauro (Dennis Farina). The bickering “formerlyweds” agree to be civil long enough to make it through the wedding of their only child (Paula Marshall). Everyone knows Lilly and Dan hate each other with nuclear capacity, so no one’s more surprised when a knock-down-drag-out fight sparks “that old feeling” and they set off on a romantic fling with their frantic family and a hot-headed tabloid photographer in pursuit.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.82:1 picture exhibits vibrant, but slightly oversaturated color fidelity with sometimes reddish fleshtones and undefined blacks. Images are inconsistent in sharpness and detail, though contrast and shadow detail are acceptable. The slightest noise is apparent, but there are no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack features a terrific swinging music score that spreads across the soundstage, but fidelity sounds veiled. Surround envelopment is subtle with some stereo effects. Dialogue generally sounds natural, but is often wanting in spatial integration. Background noise is prevalent throughout much of the soundtrack.
