WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Vincent Price, the master of the horror genre, stars in Theater Of Blood as the demented actor Edward Lionheart who vows revenge on nine London critics who denied him the Best Actor Of The Year Award. Recreating the death scenes from Shakespearean plays, Lionheart murders his detesters one by one with the support of his equally demented daughter (Diana Rigg). Milo O’Shea stars as Scotland Yard’s Inspector Boot, who must brush up on his Shakespeare before time runs out. Filled with gore and bloody killings, revenge is sweet in this wonderful cult classic that is sure to please Vincent Price fans. The theatrical trailer is also included.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.66:1 picture exhibits a dated look with inconsistent color fidelity that appears plugged up in the interiors, while washed out in exteriors, Fleshtones are often brownish and blacks are deep, but undefined. Shadow detail is poor and “muddy” with extremely poor contrast. Images are wanting in sharpness and detail with noise and artifacts.

The soundtrack is distorted mono.
