WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the acclaimed autobiographical book “One Who Walked Alone,” The Whole Wide World tells the story of Novalyne Price (René Zellweger), a feisty schoolteacher and her bittersweet, romantic and turbulent relationship with the great pulp fiction writer of the 1930s, Robert E. Howard (Vincent D’Onofrio). The Whole Wide World was Zellweger’s role that lead to her casting in Jerry Maguire.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.35:1, is nicely rendered though an orangish filter is prevalent throughout. Colors are rich and warm with deep solid blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed with excellent contrast and shadow detail. There is no noise or artifacts for a picture that is sure to please.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack has a mono focus though there are moments of a wide stereo soundstage and aggressive surround with deep bass for an experience that enhances the storytelling.
