WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Winner of three Academy Awards® (Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor), Hannah And Her Sisters is a warm, poignant comedy-drama that sets the stage for love, obsession, relationships and family. Mia Farrow stars as Hannah, whose second husband, Elliot (Michael Caine), yearns for her beautiful sister, Lee (Barbara Hershey). Hannah’s other sister Holly (Dianne Wiest) runs a catering company with her friend April (Carrie Fisher)—both of whom vie for the affections of a handsome architect (Sam Waterston). And Woody Allen stars as Hannah’s hypochondriac ex-husband who fears he really may be dying this time.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.82:1 picture, which is mostly interior scenes, exhibits a slight orange tint throughout, affecting all aspects of color fidelity and making the picture look unnatural. Blacks are deep and undefined. The few exterior daylight scenes look slightly more natural with better color fidelity. Shadow detail is brownish and undefined with poor contrast. Images are wanting in sharpness and detail.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural à la Woody Allen
