WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis, The Last Temptation Of Christ is Martin Scorcese’s controversial and thought-provoking exploration of Jesus Christ (Dafoe) and his teachings. Here, Christ is portrayed as an ordinary man filled with self-doubt and the desires of mortals.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture often looks extremely natural with accurate fleshtones, warm color fidelity and deep brownish blacks. Only in the darker scenes does the picture take on a mediocre look. Images are sharp and detailed with good contrast and shadow detail. Minor noise and artifacts are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack has a wonderful sound design with an expansive soundstage and spatially dimensional soundfield. The music score is well recorded and images wide and deep. Dialogue sounds natural and spatially integrated for an outstanding sound production.
