Story Synopsis:
Nominated for six Academy Awards® in 1988, winning one for Best Cinematography, Mississippi Burning is an important and controversial film based on true events. Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe are two FBI agents assigned to investigate the murders of three young Civil Rights workers in racism-stricken 1964 Mississippi.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits poor shadow detail with weak bluish blacks and contrast that is overly bright. Interior scenes seem plugged-up and wanting in naturalness. Overall, the color fidelity is subdued, but generally natural in presence. Images are often wanting in sharpness, detail and definition, often appearing hazy. Slight noise, grain and artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is generally effective with a terrific music score that is expansive across the soundstage, often wrapping into the surrounds. Other times, the sound collapses to monaural, except for occasional ambient sound effects. Dialogue sometimes sounds veiled and wanting in spatial integration. Overall, this is a conventional
