WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Gregg Araki’s Nowhere is a bizarre film that chronicles one day in the life of Dark (James Duval) and the angst-ridden, drug-addicted, sex-crazed people who call L.A. their home. While trying to define his relationship with Mel (Rachel True), Dark must come to realize the realities of the fractured world in which he lives. The colorful supporting cast includes Beverly D’Angelo, John Ritter, David Leisure, Traci Lords, Brady Bunchers Christopher Knight and Eve Plumb and many more. Pity, Araki didn’t go somewhere with his star-studded cast—Nowhere is not for everyone.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits vibrant colors throughout with generally natural fleshtones, rich fidelity and deep, solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail and contrast. Slight noise is apparent in interior scenes with minor artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround matrix soundtrack is nicely produced with aggressive surround envelopment provided by the rock music score. Dialogue sounds natural and spatial.
