WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Grim and rugged, Pork Chop Hill is a true story, based on the book by U.S. Army Brig. General S.L.A. Marshall. As the Korean War was nearing its climax, just seventy miles from the Peace Conference at Panmunjom, Lt. Joe Clemons (Gregory Peck) and his courageous infantrymen of the King Company are anxiously awaiting a call of peace while preparing to counterattack the rapidly advancing enemy forces at Pork Chop Hill. Their mission is to capture and hold the crucial hilltop, and this graphic, high-casualty offensive move is a stark reenactment of the terrifying battle. From the Academy AwardŽ-winning director of All Quiet On The Western Front and Two Arabian Knights, Pork Chop Hill is a totally honest, incredibly somber and lastingly impressive war movie.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture exhibits a good grayscale with fairly deep blacks, good contrast and shadow detail. Images are generally sharp and detailed throughout. There is virtually no noise, but sometimes distracting artifacts and print scratches are apparent. The picture is matted at 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished and compressed monaural.
