WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Burt Lancaster stars in Scorpio as Gerald Cross, an aging C.I.A. agent suspected of selling secrets to the Russians. Corrupt C.I.A. executive official McCleod (John Colicos) hires Scorpio (Alain Delon), a brilliant French assassin, and former friend of Cross, to hunt down the undercover agent. Scorpio was hired once before, but failed the C.I.A. because of a previous contract to keep Cross alive. Now, hiding out in Vienna with an old friend (Paul Scofield), Cross is quick to realize that Scorpio is on his trail and turns the tables; while back in the States, the CIA searches for clues by spying on his wife and raiding their home. Filmed on location in Washington, Paris and Vienna, Scorpio is an involving thriller filled with chase scenes, explosions, espionage and a talented cast.

LaserDisc Picture:
The black and white sequence in the beginning of the film exhibits acceptable grayscale with good contrast and shadow detail, but is wanting in sharpness and detail. The rest of the picture exhibits a dated quality. Fleshtones often look brownish and blacks, while deep, are undefined. Images are wanting in overall sharpness and detail. The aspect ratio is 1.62:1.
