WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Debbie Reynolds stars in The Singing Nun as the quirky motor scooter-riding Sister Ann, who rarely travels without her guitar. Although slightly clumsy in her chores and sometimes disastrous in her community work, she is almost a saint when it comes to her singing. When Father Clementi (Ricardo Montalban) hears her angelic voice, he arranges a recording session and Sister Ann becomes an overnight success! Forced to choose between her duties as a nun and a music career, Sister Ann must make the ultimate sacrifice. Classic melodies such as “Brother John,” “Dominique” and “Beyond The Stars” help make this an uplifting film.

LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® picture, reframed at a very wide 2.65:1, exhibits extremely oversaturated and plugged-up color fideity that appears unnatural and undefined. Fleshtones are orange throughout and colors are often fluorescent looking with deep, undefined blacks. Images are wanting in sharpness and detail. Artifacts, noise and print scratches are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished compressed and distorted monaural.
