WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Snow White A Tale Of Terror is not your typical fairytale. When young Lillian’s mother dies unexpectedly during childbirth, her father (Sam Neill) re-marries the well-intentioned Lady Claudia (Sigourney Weaver). But soon after Claudia’s arrival, Lillian witnesses a horrifying occurance in her new stepmother’s quarters. When a failed attempt at murder leaves the beautiful Lillian (Monica Keena) wandering deeper into the forest, she comes across seven hermits (some dwarfs)—but if you think you know the end, think again.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture exhibits good color fidelity with fully saturated colors, natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. The candlelit interiors are warm with good shadow detail and contrast. The picture is generally sharp and detailed, although sometimes images are soft in focus. Slight noise is apparent, but there are no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround matrix soundtrack is nicely produced with a well recorded and spacious music score. Dialogue sounds natural with generally good spatial integration. Surround envelopment is often aggressive with effective sound effects and bass.
