WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
When Danny was just five years old he helped deliver a baby girl and immediately announced he was going to marry her. A chance meeting 25 years later brings Danny together again with Anna (Gretchen Mol) and her quirky family. He believes it is their destiny to be together, but Anna does not believe in fate—nor does her fiancé—so she tries to convince herself that she wants no part of Danny. Funny and sentimental, Music From Another Room is very enjoyable.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, appears oversaturated with plugged-up interiors, orange fleshtones and deep, undefined blacks. Exterior scenes are much more natural, with more subtly rendered fleshtones, Images are generally sharp and detailed, though some scenes are softly focused. There are no distracting artifacts, only minor noise, for a picture that is pleasing with minor inconsistencies.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround matrix soundtrack delivers a nicely enveloping surround presence with a prominent music score that is generally well recorded. Dialogue is, however, problematic, sounding closely miked or ADR-processed. Surround envelopment is effective with ambient sound effects.
