WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
True Lies is based on the French film La Totale, about a secret agent (Arnold Schwarzenegger) forced to live a double life.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.32:1, appears to be sourced from the same transfer as was the previous LaserDisc reviewed in Issue 12. That LaserDisc carried the THX®-quality assurance logo for digital mastering, while this new DTS® Digital Surround LaserDisc does not. Nonetheless, images are sharp with excellent detail, color fidelity and contrast, for a wonderful visual experience that won’t disappoint.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Back in early 1995, the previous LaserDisc release was the second movie on disc with a discrete 5.1 Dolby® Digital soundtrack, and the sound quality was superb. The new DTS Digital Surround version sounds even better in clarity, low level ambience recreation and dynamic impact. The soundtrack has an extraordinary dynamic range and an aggressive surround presence with exceptional deep bass and powerful .1 LFE below 25Hz. This DTS rendering is sure to please with its dramatic and exhilarating soundfield dimension and excitement.
