WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
A sensuous tale of romantic intrigue, Wings Of The Dove is the story of Kate Croy (Helena Bonham Carter), a spirited woman who finds herself in a struggle between her head and her heart. Based on the novel by Henry James, Kate lives in a world in which marriage to the right suitor ensures the proper social position. She is forced to make an impossible choice between her wealth, a friend (Allison Elliott) and the man she loves (Linus Roache).

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.82:1, often looks absolutely stunning in color rendering with subtle fleshtones, rich and vibrant costumes and deep, solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent clarity and texture, though some scenes are presented with a softer focus. This is a lavish presentation in all aspects, one that is only marred by minor noise and artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is nicely spatial with good stereo soundstage effects and surround ambience. Dialogue sounds natural with generally good spatial integration. The orchestral music score is nicely presented though a bit veiled at times.
