WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Locusts tells the story of Clay Hewitt (Vince Vaughn), a drifter and mysterious stranger to a small, sweltering Kansas town. He finds work at the feed lot owned by the cold, seductive Delilah Potts (Kate Capshaw), who always has her choice of men when it comes to work and love. But when Hewitt spurns her affections in favor of a friendship with her emotionally fragile son (Jeremy Davies), Delilah unleashes a torrent of cruelty that is more dangerous than the past he is escaping. The theatrical trailer is included.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 2.35:1, is quite pleasing and naturally rendered. Colors are richly hued and natural. Images are sharp and detailed with good shadow detail and contrast. Minor noise and artifacts are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack sounds manufactured. Surround envelopment, while at times aggressive, is undefined. Dialogue is forward sounding and, when ADR-produced, lacks spatial integration. Elements are not particularly well balanced, with generally limited bass and music, though when present, both are nicely rendered.
