WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Los Locos Posse is an unusual western that has been likened to be a cross between One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and The Magnificent Seven. When Chance (Mario Van Peebles) is found staggering through the desert, he is cleaned up by members of the Los Locos Mission—one for the mentally insane—and forced to lead the domineering Sister Drexel and the group of “poor souls” 100 miles across the desert to a safer Mission.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits warm colors with a stylized western appearance, but there are some inconsistencies. Images are sharp and detailed with nicely rendered texture and clarity. Some scenes are a bit too contrasted and appear hazy, but shadow delineation is nicely presented. There is minor noise in the darker scenes, but there are no distracting artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is quite spatial and nicely dimensional. Surround ambience is subtly delineated but at times effectively aggressive. Gun shots and other sound effects sound natural, and at times deep bass is effectively engaging. Dialogue sounds natural and is generally spatially integrated.
