WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Newton Boys is a true tale of four scheming brothers plus one explosives expert who wind up becoming the most successful bank robbers in U.S. history. After knocking off more than 80 banks, the Boys decide to go after a bigger payday and concoct a scheme to rob the Federal Reserve Train.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, framed at 2.30:1 exhibits superb quality in all aspects. Colors are beautiful and naturally rendered throughout. Images are sharp and detailed with nicely rendered fine detail and definition. Contrast and shadow delineation are superb, and there is only the slightest noise occasionally apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The matrix PCM soundtracks tops the Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete soundtrack in spatial dimensionality, low level ambience and bass effectiveness. But both versions are superb presentations. Dialogue is excellent with good spatial integration. The matrix version sounds fuller with good bass foundation even when the discrete’s .1 LFE channel is engaged. The music score is superb with excellent fidelity. Surround envelopment is effectively aggressive though the discrete’s split surrounds are not particularly distinctive.
