WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Major League: Back To The Minors is the third installment in this series of ragtag baseball players and their outrageous antics. Roger Dorn (Corbin Bernsen), proud owner of the Minnesota Twins, talks washed-up pitcher Gus Cantrell (Scott Bakula) into managing his hard luck minor league team and prepare them for a showdown with the Twins.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.78:1, looks natural with accurate fleshtones, rich colors and deep, solid blacks. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent shadow delineation and contrast. There is minor noise apparent throughout, but no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete soundtrack is inconsistent in spatial delineation compared to the matrix PCM soundtrack. Amazingly, even in some of the baseball park scenes that invite aggressive surround envelopment, the discrete soundtrack collaspes to stereo with no effective surround presence, while the matrix PCM version delivers the excitement. The music score is nicely recorded and delivered wider on the discrete. Bass extension is excellent with added punch provided by the discrete’s .1 LFE channel. Dialogue generally sounds natural.
