WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Winner of two Academy Awards®, Fame follows the aspirations, struggles and successes of a group of teens accepted to attend New York’s High School of Performing Arts. From the often excruciating auditions through senior year, we see the students grow as individuals as well as performers. Features director commentary and theatrical trailers.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, undermatted at 1.78:1, is marred with noise and occasional artifacts. Color fidelity, while dated and slightly subdued with a veil of haze, is generally natural with accurate fleshtones, warm colors and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation are mediocre. Sharpness is somewhat inconsistent, with images sometimes exhibiting good detail, while other times hazy and severely out of focus.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
This soundtrack has been remastered and encoded in Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete, but is excessively bright and harsh throughout. Dialogue is problematic and strident, and the signal bleeds into the stereo channels. The music is terrific, though at times the mix creates an all around presence that calls attention to each of the 5 channels. Bass extension is punched-up with .1 LFE enhancement.
