WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Sherilyn Fenn stars as FBI agent Lauren Jacobs in The Assassination File. She has been assigned to protect the first African-American presidential candidate (Paul Winfield). He is assassinated and she is held accountable and forced to resign. She soon learns that the murder was an inside job orchestrated by the government officials, and risks her life to search out the truth.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.78:1, opens with scenes that are slightly dark and interior color fidelity that is slightly brownish and undefined. Brighter scenes are slightly more natural, though still wanting in definition. Images are generally wanting in sharpness and detail. Contrast and shadow delineation are mediocre, especially in the darkest scenes. Slight noise is apparent throughout, but artifacts are generally not detected.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack delivers an aggressive surround ambience which effectively produces a dimensional soundfield presence. While dialogue sounds natural, the dialogue track has been mixed far forward and is out of balance with the other elements. The music score is well recorded. The soundstage is wide and deep and wraps well into the surround channel. Bass extension produces an effective dynamic impact.
