WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the characters created by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove and published by DC Comics, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal stars in Steel as metallurgist John Irons. When a military renegade (Judd Hirsch) places new sonic superweapons in the hands of danger, Irons must team up with an electronics wiz (Annabeth Gish) and an imaginative scrap metal worker (Richard Roundtree) to find justice. Irons becomes superhero Steel —out to make the streets safe again and return the superweapons to where they belong. Young teens will love watching Shaq.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, overmatted at 1.92:1, exhibits excellent image quality in all aspects. Only minor noise is apparent in the darker scenes.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete and matrix PCM soundtracks are dynamic sounding and spatially energized. While the discrete displays an aggressive soundfield with split surrounds, the matrix is more consistent in delineating surround envelopment. Bass extension is deep and powerful, especially when the .1 LFE channel is engaged. Dialogue is generally natural sounding and the music score is loud, as is the overall mix
