WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the acclaimed novel by Dan Wakefield, Going All The Way is a daring, but utterly charming comedy that features Ben Affleck and Jeremy Davies as two diverse young men who become friends in 1954 Indianapolis. The self-confident Gunner (Affleck) is everything the alienated Sonny (Davies) wants to be, while Gunner perceptively admires Sonny’s lone wolf appearance. In their small town, Sonny and Gunner learn that their futures lie elsewhere, but still cause some trouble when the ladies are around.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, exhibits fully saturated chroma fidelity with generally natural fleshtones, deep blacks and vibrant colors that sometimes appear slightly oversaturated. Images are generally sharp and detailed. Contrast and shadow delineation are generally good, but sometimes wanting in finer resolution. Minor noise and artifacts are apparent throughout.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack sounds “manufactured” with effects that call attention to themselves, but nonetheless keep the surround presence lively. Dialogue, though ADR-produced, sounds generally natural.
