WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
A Life Less Ordinary is a valentine spiked with mirth and malice. Two celestial angels (Delroy Lindo and Holly Hunter) are assigned the toughest job of their career: they must make an out-of-work janitor (Ewan McGregor) and a sharp-tongued rich girl (Cameron Diaz) fall in love.

LaserDisc Picture:
Released theatrically in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, A Life Less Ordinary was framed for 2.35:1 when originally photographed in the Super 35 process. The LaserDisc, matted at 2.32:1, mirrors the intended presentation. The picture almost consistently displays a slightly dark cast over the generally natural color fidelity. Images are sharp and detailed, but are sometimes wanting in better clarity and texture. Shadow detail is generally good, but sometimes contrast is overly bright. Noise and artifacts are virtually non existent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack delivers an aggressive surround soundfield. The music is nicely recorded with an expansive surround presence. Dialogue sounds spatially integrated, though the ADR sounds unnatural during outdoor scenes. This is not your ordinary sound design, but is sure to please.
